Tino Petronzio <<ARTIST PAGE

Italian-American, Tino Petronzio, was born in the Bronx, in New York City, in 1945. He studied art at NYSU. While at the famous Art Students League, he studied with the renowned anatomist Dr. Beverley Hale along with the prolific painter and draftsman Vincent Capraro. His other teachers included the famous Armenian sculptor Koran Dar Harootian, San Franciscan Raymond Puccinelli and the great Florentine painter Pietro Annigoni.

Tino emigrated to Canada in 1969, then spent 12 years in Cape Breton where he founded Nova Scotia’s first bronze art foundry. In 1987, Tino moved to Montreal.

While his style is primarily new figurative, it is not hyperrealism. His work delivers a wide range of expressive gestures and a suggestion of freedom and human glory. His art is a pastiche that is always dramatic, provocative and contemporary! Tino’s creativity covers a wide range of media, from drawings and ink washes to bronze and flora sculptures; from parlour works to the monumental “Tigers” of the Detroit Tiger Stadium which he completed in 2000.

Tino Petronzio has been featured in articles in international media such as The Boston Globe, Holiday Magazine, The Napa Observer, San Francisco Cuisine, Sculpture Magazine, La Presse and The Montreal Gazette, Ben Viver, El Tiempo (in South America), Sports Illustrated, and the trendy Hollywood publication, Angeleno. Petronzio’s works are well represented around the world including Canada, USA, Italy, France, Germany, South America, Japan and India.

Tino Petronzio’s works will be shown at Galerie Harwood in a special show titled: ”Barkley, Bibeau, Petronzio” (Power Myth & Glory), from April 16 through to June 19, 2005. A special vernaissage will be held at the Galerie on Saturday, April 16, 2005.
